Meet the Member: Melissa Campbell
As we approach the Chamber Gala dinner in November, we will be showcasing a member from each of our event sponsors over the next two months. Firstly, we speak to Melissa Campbell, Managing Director of Situations, who are the Shine Bright sponsor of the 2026 Chamber Gala dinner.
Who are you & what do you do?
I’m Melissa Campbell and I’ve been at Situations Recruitment for 24 years now! I joined as temp manager, shortly after that I became a Director of the business, in 2011 I became a shareholder and I’m now 90% owner. Alongside my co-Director, I manage the business, strategy and financials on a daily basis, and still place some senior candidates in various fields, mainly in the finance sector.
How are you personally using AI at home and at work?
I use AI very regularly at work, mainly for marketing and PR purposes, but also to review agreements, reduce administration, and generally to save time and make my workload much more efficient. At home I use AI for general searching and have used it extensively when choosing and reviewing travel options. It’s really made a difference. (But I promise I didn’t use AI to write this article!)
How is your company adapting to the challenges and opportunities of AI?
AI has made our work here so much easier. Whether we’re looking for new marketing ideas, writing content from scratch, reviewing client and business documentation, or checking our own work or the work of others, it’s a regular lifesaver. We use locked down AI tools to ensure confidentiality and data protection. We’re currently reviewing AI for the auto-production of certain documents that we use here, and to automate or reduce more of the administrative tasks that are required in our roles.
What’s your AI top tip?
Make your prompts clear and thorough! Clarity and refining of instructions are vital to get out what you need.
What is your current must read or listen that’s influencing you professionally/personally?
Working in recruitment, I highly recommend Greg Savage’s posts – The Savage Truth. In his extensive time managing and owning recruitment businesses globally, he has seen and done it all. His insights are so valuable and really mean something when working in this industry day to day. The breadth of his practical knowledge is unparalleled.
