Boley Smillie, Chief Executive of Guernsey Post will be speaking at the November lunch on challenges faced by the industry and how the postal service has changed.

From a loss making position in 2010 Guernsey Post immediately returned to profit and over the following five years has returned over £15m to its shareholder the States of Guernsey.

On that journey the Company has had to contend with a number of significant challenges including the loss of LVCR (Low Value Consignment Relief), the impact on core volumes of digital substitution and unsustainable pension obligations. So with turnover having fallen by over 40% how has the Company ‘balanced the books’?


Born and raised in Guernsey, Boley Smillie joined Guernsey Post in 1991 straight from his secondary education at La Mare de Carteret School. The subsequent twenty five years have seen him gain a wide range of experience in different roles, rising through the ranks of the Company. Boley became Operations Director in 2007 and an Executive Director in April 2010. In September 2010 Boley was appointed Chief Executive.
