  • Price: £60 CIPD Members, £75 Non-members

‘Won’t do’ or ‘Can’t do’? The difference between the individual who is perceived as lazy or difficult and the one who just struggles with doing the job.

This workshop covers the concepts as well as legislation, practical conversations, coaching & support and, where necessary, dismissal.
Relevant for business owners, employers, Managers and HR practitioners, or anyone who manages performance. The course will address issues such as: ‘identifying and isolating the problem’; ‘exploring the issues’; ‘considering adjustments – what is reasonable’; promoting improvement through coaching and support’; and, ‘when enough is enough’.
The course will be presented by Paul Beard (Area Director, Acas South East) and Donna Ivey (Deputy Area Director) and will be based on the law in Guernsey – noting good practice from the mainland where the law around ‘reasonable adjustments’ has developed further than here in Guernsey.
Both Paul and Donna have delivered a wide diversity of training for the CIPD and many Channel Island based employers and also work closely with the Guernsey Employment Relations Service.
Paul trained as a lawyer, before moving into health investigations and then regulation.  He has an MBA and is a CMI Chartered Manager.  Donna has many years of experience as ACAS South East’s conciliation manager and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in workplace dispute resolution.
Registration opens at 8.40am with the workshop commencing at 9.00am.
