Rob Veron, Blue Islands Chief Executive Officer

Recruited by Healthspan Group, in 2004 as a management accountant, working across a diverse mix of commercial businesses; from statutory work to project accounting for two significant hotel developments, and financial modelling of start-up businesses. He later became involved in the wider strategic direction, including commercial decision making, route planning, fleet planning and strategic direction for Blue Islands. In 2010, Rob took on the role of Chief Executive Officer (and Accountable Manager) and embarked on conceiving and implementing the next phase of Blue Islands’ evolved transformation plan, including milestones such as the migration to an all-ATR fleet of aircraft.

Tom Barrasin, Blue Islands Chief Commercial Officer

After studying at Elizabeth College and earning a degree in Psychology at the University of Exeter, Tom returned to Guernsey, joining the Healthspan Group in a marketing position in 2009. After a brief spell in the finance industry, Tom joined Blue Islands in May 2012 as sales and revenue analyst. In 2016, Tom was promoted to Chief Commercial Officer where his role broadened to encompass complete oversight of network planning, pricing, scheduling, procurement and marketing.

Blue Islands

Established in 2006 by founder and chairman Derek Coates, Blue Islands carried 63,500 passengers using a combination of Islander, Trislander and Jetstream aircraft, over the next 10 years Blue Islands continually invested in route development and passenger growth.

In June 2016, Blue Islands became a Flybe franchise partner, signing a 10 year agreement and is forecasting to carry 400,000 passengers in 2017. As a Flybe franchise partner, Blue Islands remains an independent privately owned air operator, totally committed to the Channel Islands, flying our own ATR aircraft under the Blue Islands AOC (Air Operators Certificate), without the need for Government support, using an all-ATR fleet with 46 and 68-seat variants.
