Resolution IT accredited in Cyber Essentials and IASME Standard

RESOLUTION IT, Guernsey’s specialist IT provider, has received two accreditations showing the company is compliant with UK standards in cyber security.

Cyber Essentials is the UK government’s benchmark scheme for helping businesses implement measures to protect them against cyber attack and the Information Assurance for Small and Medium Enterprises (IASME) governance standard recognises companies that take appropriate steps to protect their customers’ data.

Resolution IT has passed the independently verified Cyber Essentials assessment and attained the IASME Information Security Standard.

Olly Duquemin, Resolution IT’s Joint Managing Director, said he was pleased these endorse the work of his team and affirmed that cyber security should be taken extremely seriously.

‘We are obviously delighted to receive independent verification of our procedures for information security especially as we are one of very few, if not the first channel island business to achieve this standard.’

‘It is a myth that cyber criminals just attack banks and large companies. Any organisations are potentially at risk and need to ensure they are suitably protected and more importantly their staff are educated about the threats,‘ he added.

Cyber Essentials requires organisations to evaluate themselves against five technical controls – boundary firewalls and internet gateways, secure configuration, access control, malware protection and patch management.

IASME Governance standard allows small companies in a supply chain to demonstrate their level of cyber security, indicating they are taking the right steps to properly safeguard their customers’ information. It includes holistic aspects including physical security, staff awareness, and data backup.

Mr Duquemin added, ‘Both accreditations offer a pragmatic approach to highlighting and defending against these threats and we will be recommending and working with our customers to ensure they are also protected.’
