This October, staff at Deloitte in Guernsey enjoyed a series of office-based activities to improve mental wellbeing in the workplace. This was the second wellbeing week that staff have enjoyed coinciding with World Mental Health Day.

Experts in corporate wellness and mindfulness, Nicky Jenkins and Rajan Chaudhary from Mindful Guernsey launched the annual event with a lunchtime meditation session to help staff relax and recharge.

Tuesday saw Joanne Cottell, Employment Project Coordinator at Guernsey Mind, host a discussion about how staff members can help themselves and their colleagues on a daily basis.

The local chest and heart unit team offered health checks for staff and local nutritional therapist, Sophie Shand also visited the office to reiterate the benefits of drinking enough water and making healthy food choices.

The final day of Deloitte’s Wellbeing Week welcomed Trevor Wakefield to the Guernsey office to present an interactive workshop on stress management. Mr Wakefield talked about stress prevention and the ways in which staff can cope with some challenging situations.

Organiser of the week, Jo Huxtable said: ‘We had some good feedback from last year’s Wellbeing Week and again this year.  We are hoping to build on this with the ultimate aim of helping us all to better manage our busy schedules in the office and make our home lives more enjoyable.’

On the last day of the programme, Deloitte hosted a cinema evening bringing staff together in a relaxed and fun atmosphere to conclude a successful week.
