Support, Advice and Mentoring
The Chamber Office is open 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday. Please phone or call in for support or advice. Whether you would like to sound out a new idea, or deal with a particular challenge, we are here to help. With over 600 members and our network of contacts, if we don’t have the answers we will know someone who does. We can also arrange introductory meetings with business mentors who are specialists in various areas..
Promoting Your Business Interests
The Chamber of Commerce provides a respected forum for members to lobby government on a wide range of issues. The Chamber Council meets monthly to review the coming States Billet and other key issues and we also have good working relationships with Politicians and Chief Officers of the various States departments. Chamber regularly responds to States Consultations and representations are made on behalf of members on issues such as the Urban and Rural Area Plans, airport developments, waste management issues etc. If you have concerns that you would like raised please contact the Chamber Office firstname.lastname@example.org
The Chamber website is a key tool in communicating with and between members and we are constantly looking at ways to improve this. Watch this space!!
The Chamber Lunch is held on the third Monday of each month at the OGH Hotel and is an ideal networking opportunity. Each month we invite a guest speaker whose brief talk is followed by a 2 course meal with a glass of wine, rounded up with Q&A’s. Feel free to bring along guests as lunches are also open to non members.
Networking events are held throughout the year, a number of which are specifically for Small Businesses. These events have proved extremely valuable to those attending as so much of business in Guernsey is through word of mouth.
A directory of all Chamber Members is included our Contact Magazine and also on our Website. When dealing with Guernsey companies, compliance departments in UK and foreign jurisdictions often expect any business of substance to be a member of its local Chamber of Commerce. A website check is a common item on compliance checklists. Indeed the absence of an entry can raise suspicions and may preclude a company from business opportunities.
This publication covering a range of topical Island issues is free to Chamber members and is distributed bi-monthly. The new digital edition is also distributed to a database of approx 3400 email addresses. Discounted rates for advertising are available for Chamber members.
We have a meeting room available for chamber members use. This may be useful for a private meeting away from your premises or an alternative central location if you work from home. There is space for up to 8 people and the room is equipped with internet access, screen and flipchart. It is also set up for skype calls. Tea, Coffee and Refreshments may also be provided. Please contact the office for further information and availability.
World Wide Trade Contacts
The Guernsey Chamber of Commerce is affiliated to the British Chamber of Commerce and is regularly updated on a range of worldwide trade contacts. We have a working relationship with the British Chambers office and also our colleagues at the Jersey Chamber of Commerce.
The office can Notarise documents (Signature Authenticate) whether it be a document for international business use or one that simply requires Authentication for KYC (Know Your Client) purposes. We can arrange for documents to be Apostilled too. Chamber has links with London Embassies for the Authentication of trading documents. This service is provided at discounted rates for Chamber members.
Young Business Group
Chamber’s Young Business Group consists of more than 100 members who involve themselves in a number of social and charitable events on the Island. Amongst other activities they erect the Christmas Lights in Town and organise the Island’s annual Business Trends survey. The YBG meets monthly and is the ideal way to build up your business network.
