The Guernsey Young Business Group (YBG) was formed over fifty years ago to provide a specific focus for the younger element of the business community to meet, discuss common issues and extend their business network. Today the group's primary objective remains unchanged.
Over the years YBG has grown in size and now boasts in excess of 100 members representing a diverse range of business areas from within the island. The result is a melting pot of skills, knowledge and views, providing members with a real opportunity to socialise and broaden their contacts through every area of business.
The main focus of YBG's regular activity is the monthly lunch, dinner or networking event. (in rotation). The lunches and dinners provide a chance for informal discussion before and during the meal, followed by a presentation from a topical speaker. The networking evenings are activity focused and provide a further opportunity for networking in an informal environment. YBG truly offers something for everyone. In addition YBG organise a number of events throughout the year including an annual dinner in Herm, a quiz and a summer ball.
As well as the regular monthly events organised by the group, YBG is also involved in a number of other initiatives such as the annual Business Trends Survey undertaken on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, presentation of the Bill Green Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit and coordination of the Christmas Parade and the switch on of the Christmas lights by Father Christmas. YBG is also proud to be a founder member of the Guernsey Enterprise Agency.
Guiding all these activities is a council elected annually from the membership. If you are interested in joining or simply finding out more about the group, its members and its activities you can visit the website at www.ybg.gg . On the site, as well as features on events, activities and speakers, you will also find contact details for the current council who you can get in touch with for more information on YBG.
