The Chamber of Commerce is delighted to welcome Jon Buckland as our guest speaker at the Chamber Lunch on 19 April. Jon is Chief Officer of the States Commerce and Employment Department and is also the States lead for the Value for Money workstream within the Financial Transformation Programme.
Prior to joining the States in 2008 Jon was Director of Policy at the Office of Utility Regulation from its inception in 2001.He joined the OUR from the Independent Television Commission where he was responsible for the economic regulation of commercial regulation in the UK and concentrated on setting the terms for the renewal of the channel 3 licences raising over £350m pa for HM Treasury.He started his career as an environmental economist at WRc advising the water and sewerage companies, Ofwat, Environment Agency and latterly EBRD, World Bank and other international funding institutions on environmental issues.
Jon’s presentation will raise awareness of the States FTP programme and inform industry of the progress to date and how the programme is being rolled out across the States.He will concentrate on the value for money workstream which is at the core of the programme and explain how this project is being delivered and the progress that has been achieved so far.
President of the Chamber of Commerce, Julian Winser said “The importance of the States’ Transformation Programme cannot be underestimated in terms of its value in the eyes of both commerce and the public.We are extremely pleased that Jon is prepared to come and share his views and aspirations in the project with us”.
