Chamber Lunch - Robert Jukes, Collins Stewart Wealth M'ment - "Can't a-fjord not to"

"Can’t a-fjord not to"

The Chamber of Commerce is delighted to welcome Robert Jukes as our guest speaker at the Chamber Lunch in March. As Global Strategist for Collins Stewart Wealth Management, Robert is responsible for providing top down macroeconomic ideas and strategies and a number of direct inputs into the investment process. He is also a member of the Stock Selection and Asset Allocation committees, with a particular interest in portfolio construction and risk management. He joined the Wealth Management Division in January 2008 having joined Collins Stewart as Global Equity Strategist in the Institutional Equities Division in May 2007.

Prior to joining Collins Stewart, Robert spent 10 years at Credit Suisse, latterly as Global Equity Strategist. Also during his time at Credit Suisse he worked in European equity strategy, quantitative equity strategy and European economics. He started his career in finance as a bond analyst for Paine Webber.

Robert started life in academia, followed by a stint as a civil servant at a number of government departments as a statistician and an economist then returning to academia before embarking on his career in finance. He has had a number of papers published in various economics journals.

Robert’s presentation will be a macro strategy presentation in 3 parts:

(i)                 Macroeconomic review with a bullish outlook, leading to -

(ii)               Investment strategy conclusions, and ending with -

(iii)             A discussion on the possibilities of our view being wrong.

President of the Chamber of Commerce, Paul Luxon said “I was intrigued when Robert suggested his theme for our March Chamber lunch presentation would be along the lines of `Can’t a-fjord not to`, his experience as a global economic and financial strategist will no doubt give some fascinating insights into the world of investment post the international banking melt down of 2008/9. Individuals, companies and governments are all currently struggling with low yielding assets, with a key question being – which direction to take next in terms of optimising returns. I am sure Robert`s talk will be fascinating, and one not to miss!”
The lunch will be held in the Regency Room of the OGH Hotel, 12.15 for 12.30pm on Monday 15th March 2010. Bookings for individual places or tables can be made with the Chamber Office by emailing nicola.knight@guernseychamber.com.
