CICRA believes it’s not in customers’ interest to be afraid of competition

Michael Byrne

Earlier this week at the Chamber Lunch Michael Byrne, Chief Executive of Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authorities (CICRA), spoke on market states.

Michael explained that competition policy really does matter. The object is not to drive prices down, as that is a short term approach, but instead that consumers should play a primary part in considerations and that competition should not be limited.

Michael argued that business left to themselves often ended up providing services that did not deliver the best solutions to both government or individual customers.

‘Competition is not about playing nicely it’s about being robust.’

We’d like to thank Michael for providing this thought provoking session.

Thank you also to our venue The Old Government House Hotel and Spa.
