200 Years

The Guernsey Chamber of Commerce celebrates its bicentennial birthday in 2008, a fine long history of valuable service to the overall well being of Guernsey’s economic activity.

Although Government now places “business support” as a priority as captured in it’s most recent strategic Government Business Plan launched in July 2007, in the early days of Chambers’ Council proactively led Government policy in the absence of any focus in this area.

The Island’s population, well being and wealth has transformed itself as each generation has passed, resulting in the Guernsey we now see and recognise as a great success.

Chamber can be proud of the role it has played throughout the last two hundred years, always focusing on looking to the longer term position, balancing short term expediency with planning for the future.

Council will be celebrating this historical milestone with an appropriate programme of events to reflect on Guernsey’s past, present and most importantly its future.
